There’s probably not a city block anywhere in Guadalajara that has a completely level sidewalk.
There are places where the sidewalks are crumbling. Some look as though an earthquake had heaved them this way and that. Some vanish altogether, and you walk on dirt.
If you don’t keep glancing down, sooner or later you’re going to stumble—or step in a steaming pile left by a desperate dog.
