Sunrise in December

My flight into Guadalajara arrived after midnight, and by the time I retrieved my luggage, and the taxi delivered me to the apartment where I’m staying for the next two weeks, it was 1:30 a.m. Sleep didn’t overtake me until after 2:30 a.m. A scant five hours later, I woke up and walked out on the terraza to savor the sunrise. The heavenly pyrotechnics did not disappoint me.

Mexico morning—
how long have you been singing,
sparrow at my door?
